The TOWN of LAKE LUZERNE Assessor has announced that the Town is
beginning the next phase of its on-going assessment improvement project.
Data mailers have been mailed to the owners of residential properties. These
forms list information that will be used to update assessments in 2009. Accurate
material is a vital component of the effort to maintain assessments. Owners are
encouraged to attend the July 9th informational meeting at 7 pm in the Town Hall.
At that time, Ms. Rehm will explain the valuation process, how value relates to
taxes and the schedule for the triennial update. This will be an excellent opportunity
to gain a better understanding of assessment administration; however, questions
on specific properties should be addressed during an individual appointment. Such
an appointment may be made by contacting the Assessor at her office: call
518-696-2711 ext 5.
The Assessor's Office administers all aspects of real property assessment in the Town of Lake Luzerne. The Assessor identifies all property in the Town and estimates the value of each parcel. The town, county, and school budgets determine the amount of tax to be raised. The Assessment determines the share each property owner will pay toward the total tax levy.
We are available and eager to help understand the general data, valuation and equity questions and exemptions. There are many exemptions allowed by law, the newest and most far reaching being the STAR program. This program is available in varying amount to all owners on their primary residence. There is a wealth of information pertaining to assessments and assessors that can be found on the New York State Office of Real Property Services website.
The Application for STAR Program, the Renewal Application for STAR, the Optional Income Verification Program, the Veterans alternative exemption, the Senior Citizens Exemption, the Renewal for Senior Citizens Exemption, and the Clergy Exemption can all be found here. You are encouraged to browse that site at your leisure.
Stop by the office for details as well as information about other available exemptions.
The 2007 Assesment Rollls can be viewed at the Warren County Website.
