Hudson River Piecemakers Quilters' Guild hosts the 20th annual quilt show in Lake Luzerne for the 1st time. This 60 member guild will present exhibit displays of judged competitive works along with wonderful historic pieces.
In addition there will be demonstartions, raffles and vendors. Applications for displays may be obtained by sending a self addressed enevlope to Chairman Holly Darfler at 196 North Greenfield Road, Porters Corner, NY 12859. Exhibits will also contain the works of national and international quilters. The event promises to be a wonderful combination of the love, passion, patience and desire quilters have to tell their stories as they share their love of fabric with the world of sewing. This group is an A Cappella (with accompaniment) singing organization that specializes in Barbershop Harmony. They sing in a unique four part style of music created int he late 1800's and that is one of only 2 musical art forms that originated in the United States the other being Jazz. The ladies group called , the Classic Chords will open the evening. Bring your chairs and arrive early as these groups are wonderful crowd pleasers. Mike Berliner will be our MC for the evening. This summer concert is hosted by the Lake Luzerne Regional Chamber of Commerce and funded by the Town of Lake Luzerne's Visitors Occupancy Tax and will be held RAIN or SHINE.
Their repertoire has blossomed over the years to embrace a smorgasbord of American musical styles with everything from Cole Porter to Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rogers and their own infectious songs, all fed through a hopper of distinct identities. Topping off many successful years was a fun filled appearance on the NBC Today Show that was being tapped at the Sagamore last fall.
